Zobrazit příspěvek na Instagramu Let’s talk about Maker Faires in the Czech Republic · MAKER FAIRES · For the next couple of projects I need to tell you about some things. And that is – what represents Maker Faires and what is Nerdy Derby. · In short Maker Faires are big Maker exhibitions, where everybody can show to the world what they are making at home. They are held annually in dozens of cities around the world. · Recently such Maker Faire took place in Prague. Organized mainly by @makemore_cz and @josefprusa. And we as @prusalab decided to make something great for the visitors. · We took an inspiration from Maker Faire Vienna 2019, where we saw the open source @nerdyderby wooden race track for the first time. We immediately knew we need to bring it to Prague. · The idea of Nerdy Derby is simple. When you come to it first thing you can see is a big wooden down hill race track. And if you want to race, you need to build your car from the parts such as wooden blocks, screws and washers on the table next to the track. The fastest car, that won’t fall of the track then wins the race. · The point of Nerdy Derby is to empower the Maker spirit in people during the time that they need to figure out how to build the fastest car from given materials and also to have a lot of fun building it. · And so we made it. And my role in the project was to build a time measuring gate for the cars. · I choosed overengeneered modular 3D printed design because 1. why not and 2. we wanted to show that we not only know how to work with wood, but also how to operate 3D printers. · The result of many hours of 3D modeling can be seen above. It consists of modules connected together by 3D printed locking mechanisms. Each module is then an assembly of multiple parts printed in different orientations. . In the hearth is an ESP32 communicating with a wireless controller used for starting the time. · All designed by me mostly in Fusion 360 with initial idea about the shape by the great friend of mine @hrtlmuzik. · I might make it open source if somebody would be interested in it. I’ve always wanted to share my crazy contraptions with people. · But nobody understood it in my family as I was growing up, so I had nobody to share it with. I thought that nobody cared, so I kept it for myself. · Then I moved from my small village to Prague and a whole new world opened for me. I’ve met people like me, that understood the things I was hiding from everybody. I’ve learned that the things I am doing aren’t weird, but only unique. And that they are in some way really amazing. · That’s why I love Prague btw. And I understand, that for me to realize even more about me, to make and achieve more I need to visit different places, different states and even bigger cities than Prague.
